Modeling of GeV-TeV gamma-ray emission of Cygnus Cocoon

چکیده

OB-associations and superbubbles being energetically essential galactic powerhouses are likely to be the important acceleration sites of cosmic rays (CRs). The emission profile gamma-ray sources related stellar clusters indicates on continuous particle by winds massive stars. One most luminous is Cygnus Cocoon superbubble, observed multiple instruments, such as Fermi-LAT, ARGO, and, recently, HAWC. We discuss a model transport in superbubble explain GeV-TeV spectrum Cocoon, which has break at energy about 1 TeV. GeV-TeV Gamma-ray Astronomy

The history of gamma-ray astronomy began in the 1950’s when Hayakawa [1] and Morrison [2] predicted that gamma-rays would be produced via neutral pion decays generated in collisions of cosmic-rays with interstellar matter. Cherenkov observation of air showers was pioneered by Jelly [3] and Chudakov applied this technique to search for gamma-ray signals from celestial sources [4]. Since this ear...

The diffuse GeV-TeV γ-ray emission of the Cygnus region

Recently the Milagro experiment observed diffuse multi-TeV gamma ray emission in the Cygnus region, which is significantly stronger than what predicted by the Galactic cosmic ray model. However, the sub-GeV observation by EGRET shows no excess to the prediction based on the same model. This TeV excess implies possible high energy cosmic rays populated in the region with harder spectrum than tha...

GeV-TeV and X-ray flares from gamma-ray bursts

The recent detection of delayed X-ray flares during the afterglow phase of gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) suggests an inner-engine origin, at radii inside the deceleration radius characterizing the beginning of the forward shock afterglow emission. Given the observed temporal overlapping between the flares and afterglows, there must be inverse Compton (IC) emission arising from such flare photons scat...

Search for Cygnus Arm Diffuse TeV Gamma Ray Emission with the Whipple 10 m Telescope

The Whipple 10 meter atmospheric Cherenkov telescope has made observations of the region known as the Cygnus arm. This region has been recently reported by the Milagro experiment to contain a diffuse TeV γ-ray source centered at RA=308 and Dec=42. We report upper limits (using the Whipple 10 m telescope) obtained during the Fall 2004 observing season centered on RA=310 and Dec=42.65.

Extended GeV-TeV Emission around Gamma-Ray Burst Remnants, and the Case of W49B

We investigate the high-energy photon emission around Gamma-Ray Burst (GRB) remnants caused by ultrahigh-energy cosmic rays (UHECRs) from the GRBs. We apply the results to the recent report that the supernova remnant W49B is a GRB remnant in our Galaxy. If this is correct, and if GRBs are sources of UHECRs, a natural consequence of this identification would be a detectable TeV photon emission a...
